2. Promoting new leaders
3. Supporting SIG education within APA

Annual summary:
We are very excited to focus our SIG activities on the idea of "Co-Production: Engaging Families in QI and Research" over the next two years. This year we are partnering with the Patient and Family Centered SIG to create a fun, highly interactive session at the PAS 2019 Meeting in Baltimore, MD. In our workshop, we will engage participants in an interactive walk-through of the design thinking process as they learn how to effectively engage families in co-production related to quality improvement. Participants will take away key design thinking skills in three phases of the process: inspiration, ideation, and implementation. Each phase will include a short didactic overview followed by hands-on, scenario-based activities in small groups facilitated by experts in design thinking. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with families who will represent the “end-user” of their design thinking solutions. The scenario-based focus of our session will be on improving the quality of hospital-to-home transitions to engage participants who practice in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. We will also help participants identify important similarities and differences between design thinking and quality improvement to optimize the translation of these learned skills into their practice settings. We are also exploring the idea of developing a longitudinal project related to "co-production" that will lead to a scholarly publication and potentially, MOC credits for interested participants. Stay tuned for more!
